Saints hero Steve Gleason, diagnosed with ALS in 2011, confirms he and his wife expecting their second child
Since his diagnosis early in 2011, Gleason, now 41, has used his platform as a former professional athlete to promote issues relating to the disease. Gleason and his Team Gleason foundation have made efforts to support those with ALS and similar neuromuscular disorders, with their greatest accomplishment coming with the Steve Gleason Act being signed into law in 2015. That law made vital technology more accessible to patients, requiring it to be available through Medicare and Medicaid.
