Overreacting about face recognition errors: The ACLU’s alarmism isn’t justified

The search was conducted against “tens of millions” of images in the Maryland Image Repository System (MIRS). Using the same error rates found by the ACLU, we would predict that the “tens of millions” of image comparisons would return dozens of false hits, all of which can be considered as forensic leads to be adjudicated using the demographic data accompanying the MIRS images, such as height, weight, age, and sex and through inspection by fully-trained forensic face examiners.
